Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Firelog. They are short and written to be read, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. Using Firelog means you accept them; if you do not, please do not use it.

What Firelog is

Firelog reads supported Singapore bank and credit-card statement PDFs that you already have, parses them inside your browser, and shows a local view of the transactions in them. It runs format-specific consistency checks where the statement provides usable printed anchors.

To be explicit about what it is not:

• It is not connected to any bank. It does not log in on your behalf, hold credentials, or use any bank API or aggregation service.
• It does not hold, move, receive or transmit money, and provides no payment, remittance or account-issuing service of any kind.
• It is not a financial adviser, accountant, or tax agent, and nothing it displays is advice.

Beta and future pricing

Firelog is free to use while it is in beta. It is also unfinished: features change, formats that worked may break while a parser is improved, and the service may be unavailable or discontinued. There is no uptime commitment and no support commitment, though we do read hello@firelog.sg.

Optional paid features are planned. Core statement parsing, the complete transaction table and uncapped CSV download from Transactions remain free. Prices and the terms for paid features will be shown before purchase; using the beta does not enrol you in a subscription or start a charge automatically.

Accuracy — please verify

For supported layouts with usable printed totals or balances, Firelog compares the parsed arithmetic with those anchors and flags a mismatch. This is a useful control, but formats expose different anchors and a passing check does not prove every individual row or field is correct.

Statement layouts vary, parsers and description templates can misread things, and offsetting errors can escape an arithmetic check. Before you rely on anything Firelog shows you — for a tax filing, a loan application, a dispute with your bank, or any decision that matters — check it against the statements and your bank's own records. Those are the authoritative source; Firelog is a reading of them.

Local storage, export and recovery

What you import is stored in browser storage for this site and is not copied to a Firelog cloud account. Material you deliberately submit through an optional report is handled separately under the privacy notice. If you clear Firelog's site data, close an incognito/private session, use a different browser or device, or lose the device, we cannot restore the local database.

Keep your original statement PDFs. Re-importing them rebuilds parsed transaction history. The complete CSV available in Transactions is a portable export for your own use, not a restorable Firelog database; local preferences, review state and other customisations may need to be recreated.

Using it fairly

When you use Firelog, you agree that you will not:

• Share statements that are not yours to share. If you use the option to send us a statement Firelog could not read, that statement must be your own, or you must have the account holder's permission to send it. This matters: it is somebody's financial life, and sending it without their say-so is not yours to do.
• Attempt to overload, disrupt, probe or gain unauthorised access to the service.
• Use the service to break the law, or to process other people's personal data in a way that breaks the law.
• Misrepresent Firelog's output as certified, audited or officially verified. It is none of those.

We may block access that is damaging the service or putting other people's data at risk. Since there are no accounts, in practice this means rate limits and, if necessary, withdrawing the service.

What you own, what we own

We do not claim ownership of statement data you import; you retain whatever rights you have in it. When you submit parser evidence, a description/template report or a diagnostic, you grant Firelog limited permission to receive, review and use that submission for the purpose shown at the point of sending and described in the privacy notice, during the stated retention period.

The Firelog name, the site and the software remain ours.

Liability

Firelog is provided as it is, without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. We do not warrant that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data. Any limitation is subject to applicable Singapore law and to whatever rights cannot lawfully be limited.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

Ending it

You can stop using Firelog at any time; use its Clear data action or your browser's site-data controls to remove local data. Clearing may also remove the remembered statement-folder handle and submission references. We may change or discontinue the service; beta availability is not guaranteed.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially we will update the date at the top and note the change on the site. Continuing to use Firelog after that means accepting the updated terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction. Firelog is currently operated from Singapore by an individual. If something has gone wrong, please email hello@firelog.sg first — most things are a misunderstanding or a bug, and both are quicker to fix than to litigate.
